Garden Makers Competition

The Garden Makers Competition will showcase the work of seven talented undergraduate or recent post graduate designers providing a platform to hone their exhibiting and planting skills.

 Who can enter? 

  • Current design students
  • Recent design graduates (3 years since completion of your course) 
  • Entries may be submitted by an individual, a pair or a team of designers.

Theme: ‘Rooted in Nature’

To work with our show theme, we would like you to create your gardens along the theme of ‘Rooted in Nature’. inspired by the broader idea of harmony in nature and celebrating the profound connections between people, plants, and the planet. Your design will demonstrate strong horticultural knowledge, employ sustainable and regenerative principles and maximise the impact of a small space using strong layout, multifunctional features and a strong visual storytelling.

We hope that you will see this as a great opportunity to participate in a much-loved show that
seeks to elevate the very best in horticulture and garden design.

Support 

The competition is kindly supported by Creepers Nursery. Your plants will be sourced from a wide palette of pre-determined stock plants from Creepers Nursery and delivered to the showground in time for planting on Friday 5th June, between 9am and 4pm. A bursary of £100 will be awarded to all successful applicants to go towards travel costs etc.

Size of plot 

The beds are rectangular, 2.4m long and 1.5m wide with an interior planting space of 1.4m x
2.3m or 3.22sqm. Artifacts and props may be used.

Awards 

First Prize £600 of spending money at Creepers Nurseries and the ‘Creepers Challenge Cup’

Second Prize £250 of spending money at Creepers Nurseries 

Third Prize £150 of spending money at Creepers Nurseries

Garden relocation

We would like you to relocate your plants and design to a worthwhile cause after the show and share your stories.
